Annapurna circuit trek or Throngla pass
Annapurna Circuit Trek
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular and iconic trekking routes, known for its remarkable natural beauty, diverse landscapes, waterfalls, forests, rivers, and massive Himalayan peaks. Located in the central region of Nepal, this trek is also known as the Thorong La Pass Trek or the Round Annapurna Trek. The total distance ranges from 160 km to 260 km, depending on the starting and ending points.
Beginning from the Marshyangdi River Valley and ending in the Kali Gandaki River Valley, the trail takes trekkers to the high altitude of Thorong La Pass (5,416m). Along the way, you will explore the two famous Himalayan regions — Manang and Mustang — renowned for their unique culture, local cuisine, traditional drinks, monasteries, temples, and close views of incredible mountains.
The trek offers the chance to visit sacred and historic places such as Muktinath Temple, Braga Monastery, and Pisang Monastery, providing spiritual peace and cultural insights. Trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of Annapurna I–IV, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, Thorong Peak, and many other mountains ranging from 6,000m to over 8,000m.
As you walk from low altitude to high Himalayan terrain, the journey reveals diverse cultures, changing landscapes, lush valleys, high-altitude deserts, and extended views of the Tibetan plateau.
Typically, the Annapurna Circuit Trek starts from Chame or Dharapani (the last motor road point on the Marshyangdi side) and ends at Muktinath or Jomsom (where the road access begins on the Mustang side).
The Annapurna Circuit is considered a moderate trek, although some trekkers may experience headaches or altitude symptoms while crossing the high pass.
